Job SummaryThe Preschool Teacher is responsible for creating a nurturing, faith-filled learning environment that supports the spiritual, academic, social, and emotional development of young children. This role integrates early childhood education with Catholic values and teachings.

Requirements

  • Experience working with young children preferred
  • Practicing Catholic preferred (or willingness to support Catholic mission)
  • Knowledge of child development and early learning practices
  • Patience, compassion, and enthusiasm for working with children
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills
  • Effective communication with children, parents, and staff
  • Ability to integrate faith into daily instruction
  • Creativity and flexibility

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate lessons in literacy, math, science, and social skills
  • Use play-based and hands-on learning strategies
  • Adapt instruction to meet individual student needs
  • Incorporate Catholic teachings into daily lessons and activities
  • Lead children in age-appropriate prayers (e.g., before meals, start/end of day)
  • Teach Bible stories, Christian values, and basic religious concepts
  • Model Christ-centered behavior, kindness, and respect
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and engaging classroom environment
  • Establish routines that support structure and positive behavior
  • Supervise children during class, recess, and activities
  • Support social, emotional, and behavioral growth
  • Encourage positive interactions and conflict resolution
  • Observe and assess student progress
  • Maintain regular communication with parents/guardians
  • Provide updates on student progress and development
  • Participate in parent-teacher conferences
  • Work with school staff, administration, and parish community
  • Participate in school events, liturgies, and professional development
