About The Position

The Preschool teacher is responsible for providing a safe and developmentally appropriate preschool program in accordance with all Community Care Licensing and Red Hill Lutheran Church and School policies and procedures. The Preschool Teacher will be responsible for planning and implementing a program to teach young children. They must ensure the development and safety of these children in accordance with relevant to licensing and school requirements and policies. The Preschool Teacher will be respectful of children and parents, and ensure that equipment and facilities are clean, safe and well maintained. Failure to provide adequate services may place children at risk. Spiritual: Affirms that, as part of the qualifications for this position, he/she is a Christian who knows the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior. (John 3:3, 1 Peter 1:23). Gives testimony that teaching and/or working with children is a calling, and that working in this Christian school is God's direction. Manifests by precept and example the highest Christian virtue and personal decorum, serving as a Christian role model (1 Timothy 4: 12) Accepts without verbal or mental reservations the Statement of Faith, the Philosophy of Education, and Mission Statement of this school and church and is committed to upholding them.

Requirements

  • 18 units of Early Childhood Education (required)
  • Proficient knowledge in Child Development and Developmental Early Education theories and practices.
  • Proficient knowledge in Safe and age-appropriate skill building activities for preschool-aged children.
  • Proficient knowledge in Ensuring that children are well supervised, using RHLS standards and practices in keeping children safe at all times.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a developmentally appropriate preschool program for young children. Main activities include but are not limited to: -Plan and implement activities to meet the physical, social/emotional, intellectual, and spiritual needs of the children in the program. -Provide nutritious snacks. -Provide adequate equipment, curriculum, and activities for age-appropriate developmental skill building according to program philosophy. -Ensure equipment and facility are well maintained and safe at all times. -Provide weekly lesson plans that parallel RHLS preschool mission and vision. -Develop activities that introduce all academia concepts through a developmental, sensory process; adhering to a no worksheet environment. -Maintain daily/weekly skill building assessments, portfolios, daily/weekly My Day reports current and up-to-date at all times. -Be familiar with health and safety emergency procedures.
  • Supervise children in the Preschool. Main activities include but are not limited to: -Ensure children are supervised at all times in keeping with RHLS standards and procedures. -Provide various experiences and activities for children including songs, games and story telling. -Build childrens esteem. -Comfort and nurture children. -Establish routines and provide positive guidance through discipleship guidelines and practices. -Provide a safe and secure environment for children to feel comfortable. -Implement positive discipline, through discipleship practices, when necessary. -Clearly and effectively communicate in a manner that children, age-appropriately, understand. -Observe children and notate developmental progress on a regular basis maintaining all records current. -Integrate special needs children in a positive and respectful manner
  • Communicate with parents and members of the community. Main activities but are not limited to: -Discuss childrens development with parents on a regular basis. -Discuss identified concerns and needs with professionals as appropriate. -Participate in community activities. -Promote literacy and early education through hands on learning techniques.
