About The Position

The Y in Central Maryland is seeking a Preschool Teacher to plan, manage, and supervise early childhood classroom structure, including lesson plans, schedules, routines, and transitions. The teacher will lead the classroom and support associates, while ensuring adherence to state standards & regulations as well as to the Y’s philosophy and approach to early childhood education. This role is responsible for ensuring the health, welfare, and safety of the children enrolled in the program and creating an environment that fosters the social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and creative development of each child. The Preschool Teacher will contribute to the Y and the overall community by working with young participants to help them prepare for success in school and life.

Requirements

  • Enthusiasm for young children, patience, good humor, good judgment and a good spirit
  • The ability to clearly communicate and effectively listen to children, parents/guardians, members, and other Y associates
  • At least 1 year of early childhood experience
  • A high school degree or GED
  • Your 90 hour child care certification and/or an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education
  • Abide by The Code of Conduct with Youth that sets clear expectations for associates and volunteers to ensure a safe and respectful environment for young people.
  • Complete training on child abuse prevention and comply with legal reporting requirements to safeguard youth.
