About The Position

The Preschool Teacher's Aide reports to the Preschool Director and is a full-time, non-exempt position. The school's mission is to partner with families in helping children grow in Christ by providing a biblically based academic curriculum and teaching principles from God's Word. The Preschool Teacher's Aide supports the classroom teacher in all aspects of the classroom, aiming to help children grow spiritually and academically.

Requirements

• Minimum of 6 Early Childhood Education (ECE) units required.
• Must be continually enrolled in college until a minimum of 12 ECE units has been completed.
• Demonstrate Christ-like character in both speech and actions.
• Exhibit spiritual maturity, academic competence, and personal leadership qualities.
• Successfully pass pre-employment reference and background screenings.
• Provide proof of legal authorization to work in the United States.
• Regularly required to talk or hear.
• Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands and fingers to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
• Occasionally required to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
• Will lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus.
• Sufficient vision and hearing to allow for active supervision and interaction with students.
• May be required to move children’s desks, worktables, chairs, or re-configure room.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a daily personal devotional life and demonstrate Christ-like character.
• Encourage students in their spiritual growth and acceptance of God's gift of salvation.
• Support the classroom teacher in all instructional activities, including circle time, lessons, recess, and lunch.
• Assist in communicating lesson objectives and reinforcing learning.
• Support the integration of biblical principles into classroom instruction.
• Assist in implementing effective classroom management and maintaining student engagement.
• Help arrange and maintain a classroom environment that promotes learning.
• Communicate regularly with the teacher regarding lesson plans and material needs.
• Maintain accurate and complete school records as assigned.
• Foster effective communication with teachers, students, parents, faculty, office staff, and administration.
• Follow the principles of Matthew 18 when addressing conflicts.
• Arrive on time and attend all assigned duties, meetings, and professional development.
• Serve on committees as requested.
• Pursue opportunities for professional growth.
• Provide constructive feedback to support administrative and operational functions.
• Assist with extracurricular activities, field trips, and special events.
• Supervise dismissal procedures.
• Share responsibility for maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned by administration.
• Support and uphold all school safety policies and training requirements.
• Provide continuous supervision of children in all school settings to ensure their safety and well-being.
• Understand and follow school emergency procedures.
• Comply with all mandated reporting requirements for child abuse or neglect.
• Assist the teacher in gathering children and moving them between locations within the building and to external sites like parks and libraries.
• Escort and supervise children in urban environments, including crossing busy streets.
• Keep up with students, control them, and remain with them at destinations.
• Accompany students in hallways and other areas within the building.
• Assist in preparing bulletin boards, which may involve reaching overhead and bending.
• Demonstrate lesson concepts using various tools like chalkboards, media, and computers.
• Actively supervise students in classrooms, play areas, and playgrounds.
• Assist in supervising students on playgrounds or at parks.
• Ensure students have adult supervision at all times and are never left unattended.
• Quickly summon help during emergencies.
• Render minimal first aid to injured students.
• Be present daily half an hour before children arrive until half an hour after they depart.
• Be present for faculty meetings and other special functions after school, and occasionally in the evening.
