Preschool Teacher's Aide (Vista)
About The Position
Children's Choice is a well-established Preschool with locations throughout San Diego County. The company is seeking a caring teacher's aide to support and assist the Lead Teacher. The aide will follow the lead teacher's instructions and guidance to gain experience and learn skills to create a welcoming and safe learning environment for children. The ideal candidate is passionate, patient, possesses good communication skills, is willing to learn, and is open to constructive feedback. The aide should be prepared to assist wherever needed under the direction of a qualified teacher.
Requirements
- High School Diploma
- Excellent oral and written communication skills (English)
- Passionate about working with children (infants through school age) and has a positive and patient demeanor
- Must be able to work as part of a team and get along with various personalities
- Pass DSS Background check
- Current Mandated Reporter Certificate
- Sexual Harassment Training Certificate
- Willing to learn software applications and adaptable to change
- Able to work any 8-hour shift between 6 am and 6 pm as needed/assigned by Center Director
- Able to work occasional overtime and attend after-hours staff meetings/trainings
- TB Test, Immunizations: MMR, Tdap, Influenza
Nice To Haves
- Some previous experience with children a plus
Responsibilities
- Support Lead Teacher: instruct preschool-aged children by following company selected curriculum under the supervision and guidance of the lead teacher (Zoo-phonics; training will be provided)
- Attend (1-3) monthly trainings/staff meetings after hours
- Enrollment in Child Development classes (minimum of 12 units)
- Arrive on time, consistent attendance a must
- Keep classroom clean, neat, and organized following company policies and standards of care
- Comply with all licensing rules and consult with lead teacher when unsure
- Follow Lead Teacher's instructions, ask questions, and be willing to learn from a more experienced teacher
- Communicate any concerns regarding a child to Lead Teacher
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, and teachers
- Willing to help with transportation of children between Preschool and local Elementary schools in company vehicle (negotiable)
