About The Position

The Preschool Teacher Aide works with teachers to manage a preschool classroom and provide quality care to children ages 3–5, following the agency’s philosophy, program performance standards, and curriculum guidelines. The position reports to the Preschool Special Education Teacher and is onsite.

Requirements

High school diploma.
Good verbal and written communication skills.

Demonstrated knowledge and skill in preschool.

Responsibilities

Use daily routines and observations to meet children’s strengths and needs.
Work as a team member to facilitate the program’s curriculum, procedures, and philosophy.
Assist with implementing weekly program plans.
Help establish a safe environment and a positive emotional tone that supports each child’s feelings through supportive interactions.
Maintain a welcoming atmosphere that encourages and facilitates ongoing parent participation and involvement.
Participate in staff training according to the program staff training plan and policies.
Report suspected injuries immediately to classroom staff.
Learn and apply the program curricula to each child.
Maintain punctuality in interactions with children, parents, coworkers, and volunteers.
Interact positively with children and provide choices during meal and nap times.
Care for program equipment and supplies safely and cost-effectively.
Assist with classroom cleanup and follow universal precautions daily.
Assist children with transitions during the day as needed.
Assist children in safely exiting the Center during fire drills and hazardous situations.
Follow agency and program standards for confidentiality concerning children and families, and maintain appropriate professional boundaries.
