About The Position

Children's Choice is seeking an experienced, caring, and dependable Preschool Teacher Aide/Driver to support classroom activities, assist the Lead Teacher with implementing the curriculum, and safely transport children as needed. The Teacher Aide/Driver is responsible for maintaining a safe and welcoming learning environment, assisting with daily classroom operations, supervising children, and ensuring safe transportation practices. The ideal candidate is passionate, patient, has excellent communication skills, and is comfortable interacting with parents and addressing their concerns. The Teacher Aide/Driver will follow all company and licensing regulations and report to the Center Director or Assistant Director in their absence.

Requirements

  • At least 12 Early Childhood Education units, must include: Early Child Development; Child, Family & Community; Infant & Toddler; and any other Child Development class (i.e. Program & Curriculum, Child Health & Safety, etc.)
  • At least 1-2 years of experience working with preschool-age children preferred.
  • Pass DSS Background Check.
  • Must be able to work as part of a team and collaborate effectively with various personalities.
  • Willing to learn software applications and adapt to change.

Nice To Haves

  • Passionate about working with children (infants through school age) and possesses a positive and patient demeanor.
  • Valid California driver's license with a clean driving record and the ability to meet company driving requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing company-selected curriculum activities (Zoo-phonics; training will be provided).
  • Safely transport children to and from designated locations in accordance with company policies and all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Maintain a valid driver's license and a clean driving record as required by company standards.
  • Attend 1–3 monthly trainings and staff meetings after hours.
  • Keep the classroom, vehicle, and learning areas clean, neat, and organized, following company policies and standards of care.
  • Arrive on time; consistent attendance is required.
  • Comply with all licensing regulations and consult with the Director when unsure.
  • Communicate with parents regularly regarding their child's progress and address concerns professionally and with empathy.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, and staff.
  • Assist with supervising children during classroom activities, outdoor play, field trips, and transportation.
  • Support completion of DRDP evaluations and other classroom documentation as assigned.
  • Be flexible and willing to work with infant, preschool, and school-age classrooms as needed.
