About The Position

The Preschool Supervisory Paraeducator will assist in meeting the academic, social, emotional, and physical needs of students in either an individual or small group setting under the supervision of the building administrator, classroom teacher, or designated staff member. This role involves working with an educational team to enhance student learning, promote the overall efficiency of the school system, and maximize educational opportunities for each child. The position is for 3 hours per day and involves 175 contract days.

Requirements

• AA Degree or BA degree, or Para certification
• Initiative to be a self-starter
• Intuitive to the needs of the student
• Ability to work well with classroom teacher, support staff, administrators, AEA and parents of student as part of an educational team
• Ability to be flexible in assignments given
• Ability to use good judgment when unexpected problems arise
• Ability to use office equipment
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the District may find appropriate and acceptable.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience working with children preferred but not required
• Post-secondary coursework in educational field preferred but not required

Responsibilities

• Supervise students during recess by monitoring the safety of activities and notify teachers and/or building administrators of any potential problems or injuries.
• Supervise students during lunch with seating, behavior and dismissal and assist lunch staff with distribution of food or as necessary to serve students.
• Assist with basic student health concerns and general medicine distribution.
• Assist classroom teachers in preparing materials for instruction.
• Respects confidentiality of student records.
• Conform to expectations within the negotiated agreement for Paraeducators.
• Assist in providing a positive, healthy environment of appropriate early childhood experiences for each child.
• Supervise and assist the preschool class during outdoor time, preschool bus times.
• Other duties as assigned.
