About The Position

The Atelierista, with a background in visual arts, music, or computer science, supports children's creativity and learning by introducing diverse methods of self-expression. This role involves collaborating with children and team members in the atelier to deliver STEAM experiences that foster investigation and inquiry. The Atelierista acts as an art/technology teacher and contributes to program projects, viewing teachers and students as internal customers in the knowledge construction process.

Requirements

• Must be at least 21 years old
• Degree required
• Experience in art and technology

Responsibilities

• Request materials for the month
• Follow curriculum guidelines and teach lesson plans, ensuring a broad range of creative experiences for children
• Provide a stimulating environment for children and staff to work on long-term projects, offering diverse materials for self-expression through various "languages"
• Assist the Director in developing staff awareness of working with children to encourage learning through creative expression, individually and in groups
• Develop staff understanding of the documentation process
• Provide training for other staff and monitor their progress
• Produce documentation boards
• Encourage children to experiment creatively and innovate
• Nurture children's excitement for discovery and help them connect existing knowledge with new concepts
• Encourage teachers and students to learn in new ways, fostering their identity as future learners
• Assist teachers and students in preparing PBL presentations for parents
