The Student Support (Special Education/English Learner) Teacher is a primary instructional and people leader responsible for influencing the lives of children at Global Citizens PCS. This role involves working with general education teachers to foster a student-centered learning environment that respects the culture and identity of each child, enabling them to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. In early childhood, students learn all content areas in the partner language (Mandarin Chinese or Spanish) for approximately 90% of the day, with English for early literacy and math skills for about 10%. In elementary school (K-5), a 50/50 model is used for standards-based instruction in reading, writing, math, and science. The Special Education/English Learner Teacher will teach all content areas in the partner language and serve as the instructional lead and model for that language. This role requires collaboration with colleagues to positively impact student development by creating a warm and inviting learning environment, building relationships with students and families, designing and implementing effective lessons, analyzing data, and participating in the school community. Special Education Teachers, under the supervision of the Special Education Coordinator, will work with the instructional leadership team to understand and respond to student and family needs.
