About The Position

Kensington School, established in 1969, is a private preschool and kindergarten in the Chicago area. Throughout sixteen locations, our innovative curriculum, inspirational teaching and extraordinary classroom environments make Kensington a distinctive first school experience for each child. Music is an integral component of the Kensington curriculum. Music increases vocabulary, enhances concentration and inspires creativity. Through music, children learn about patterns, rhymes, culture, behavior and much more. Kensington School’s music specialists are accomplished musicians and teachers and meet weekly with all classes, infants through kindergarten. A dynamic music and movement teacher will enjoy teaching our children using songs, fingerplays, gross motor activities and more. Our music teachers will introduce the children to new musical instruments for all ages infant through pre-k. Requirements

Piano skills are a must.
Experience working with children under 5 years old
Passion for working with young children
Open availability for part-time work, Monday through Friday.
This is a 12 month position.
Must meet DCFS licensing requirements for classroom roles, including a physical and immunization record

Responsibilities

Meet weekly with all classes, infants through kindergarten.
Teach children using songs, fingerplays, gross motor activities and more.
Introduce children to new musical instruments for all ages infant through pre-k.
Direct and accompany seasonal weekend performance programs three times annually.
