Requirements

  • Need to have obtained some post-secondary credits in Early Childhood Education or related area.
  • Experience working with young children in an early childhood education setting is preferred.
  • Must maintain CPR and First Aid certifications that Fraser provides.
  • Must be able to work independently and lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Commitment to promoting diversity, multiculturalism, and inclusion with a focus on culturally responsive practice, internal self-awareness, and reflection.

Responsibilities

  • Lead your classroom by creating a warm, engaging, and inclusive environment where children feel safe, supported, and excited to learn.
  • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum and learning experiences that support children's physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development.
  • Adapt activities and curriculum to meet the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the children in your classroom.
  • Observe, document, and assess children's development and use those observations to guide curriculum and individualized support.
  • Provide individualized and 1:1 support when needed to help children fully participate in classroom activities.
  • Build strong, positive relationships with children and encourage curiosity, independence, creativity, and confidence.
  • Partner with families through conversations, meetings, and parent-teacher conferences.
  • Coach and mentor Assistant Teachers, helping them grow their skills and confidence as early childhood educators.
