About The Position

YWCA Greater Cleveland is seeking a passionate Preschool Lead Teacher for their Early Learning Center (ELC) located at 4019 Prospect Ave. The ELC, founded in 2001, provides high-quality, trauma-informed early childhood education to families who have experienced homelessness and other traumatic events. The program utilizes small classrooms and coordinates supportive services to assess and address the social-emotional needs of children, work with families on case plans, achieve goals, prevent homelessness, and empower families towards self-sufficiency. The Lead Teacher will be responsible for providing top-notch care, ensuring compliance with ODJFS rules and regulations, and implementing Developmentally Appropriate Practices (DAP). They will create engaging lesson plans aligned with Ohio Early Learning Content Standards and foster strong relationships with parents, keeping them informed of their child's progress.

Requirements

  • Minimum of an Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field.
  • Currently enrolled and engaged in a Bachelor's program in an approved related field.
  • 2 to 3 years of full-time teaching experience with young children aged 3 to 5 years old.
  • Thorough understanding of ODJFS rules and regulations.
  • Current First Aid/CPR, Communicable Disease, and Child Abuse Certifications (or attained within the first six months of employment).
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to actively interact with children by being able to sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, and reach above head.
  • Successfully pass BCI and FBI background check and drug testing prior to employment.
  • Medical statement signed by a physician or certified nurse practitioner required on the first day of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or Special Education.
