About The Position

The core role of this position is to ensure AEA’s educational offerings/programs are delivered to company standards in the Infant through School Age classrooms, including in our STEAM/Atelier classroom. He or she will supervise the teachers assigned to each classroom and together with the Director helps to select, supervise, train, and develop teachers for their program. This position also assumes Director duties in their absence and assists the Director with management duties. He or she will be responsible for opening and closing of the school at least 50% of the time and may be required to step into a classroom and take on the teacher role when needed to maintain child to teacher ratios.

Requirements

  • CDA or BA in Early Childhood Education or related field.
  • 2 or more years of lead teacher experience for children under 6 years old.
  • Must meet all standards and requirements relating to background checks, fingerprinting, education and experience as set by the state and accreditation agent.
  • Associate Degree in any field.
  • At least four (4) years of experience in a licensed childcare facility.
  • At least two (2) years of experience in a licensed childcare school with at least one year in management or supervisory position.
  • Must be able to communicate, both verbally and in writing, in the English language.
  • Must meet Company driving standards where applicable.
  • Lifting and carrying (maximum 50 lbs.).

Responsibilities

  • Supervise teachers assigned to each classroom.
  • Assist the Director in selecting, supervising, training, and developing teachers.
  • Assume Director duties in the absence of the Director.
  • Assist the Director with management duties.

  • Keep systems and AEA APP up to date.
  • Ensure school compliance with all state-mandated teacher-child ratios, statutes, and regulations.
  • Direct, teach, and encourage staff.
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the center.
  • Maintain supervisory responsibility of all school staff in the absence of the director.
  • Coach employees to improve performance.
  • Promote a culture of innovation, empowerment, and accountability.
  • Order school and classroom supplies.
  • Assist in scheduling staff and ensuring lunch breaks are covered.
  • Conduct school tours in accordance with AEA guidelines and enter tour information into AEA APP.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy learning environment.
  • Report suspected child abuse or neglect.
  • Document all incident/accident reports and advise parents and directors.
  • Foster a positive work environment.
  • Monitor cleanliness of the school and ensure daily cleaning checklists are conducted.
  • Prepare, cook, and/or serve meals.
  • Transport children as a van/bus driver on occasion.
  • Assist with all school events including promotion and coordination.
  • Responsible for summer camp / school holiday programs.
  • Build relationships with parents.
  • Update social media following AEA guidelines.
  • Demonstrate cultural sensitivity in communications.
  • Demonstrate an awareness of community resources.
  • Send parents a monthly newsletter.
  • Conduct and participate in engaging tours with prospective families.
  • Conduct follow-up emails and phone calls.
  • Participate in all community and professional events.
  • Post weekly tuition charges in the absence of the director.
  • Collect payments.
  • Reconcile payroll hours/Timecards in the absence of the director.
  • Spend the majority of working hours (min of 80%) assisting, monitoring, mentoring, and training teachers.
  • Review evidence of Student Learning, analyze and review evidence of student work.
  • Assure that teachers are following schedules, lesson plans and utilizing age-appropriate materials.
  • Prepare and participate in monthly curriculum planning meetings and sessions.
  • Develop teaching strategies by analyzing videotaped instructions, student learning, and peer observations.
  • Identify domains in which teachers need additional coaching.
  • Meet on a weekly and monthly basis to review and discuss program philosophy and curriculum implementation.
  • Enhance instructional effectiveness that promotes student learning.
  • Conduct classroom observations weekly.
  • Prepare training for new hires on program implementation and curriculum instruction.
  • Oversee the mentoring program.
  • Ensure teachers are actively engaged with children and providing developmentally appropriate activities.
  • Ensure teachers are arranging classrooms in a manner consistent with children’s development.
  • Ensure child assessments occur on a regular basis.
  • Ensure parent-teacher conferences are held at least twice a year and assessment reports are provided to parents.
  • Establish and model suitable child guidance techniques and standards.
  • Monitor parent and teacher interaction.
  • Maintain classroom cubbies, pictures, sign in and out boards and classroom labels.
  • Responsible for all aspects of Book Fair.
