About The Position

The Daycare Teacher collaborates with an Early Childhood Special Education team to design and implement play-based instruction for children in an inclusive special education classroom. The role provides care and developmentally appropriate learning activities that foster children’s growth, learning, and positive self-esteem. This is a full-time position of 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, following the daycare calendar, with a stated rate of $18.75 per hour.

Requirements

Meet one of the following education and experience pathways: an associate degree in Early Childhood Education, Childhood Development, or a related field; a Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) and one year of related experience; or nine college credits in Early Childhood, Child Development, or a related field with a plan of study to obtain a CDA.
Be able to physically assist children in participating in the program.
Be able to lift up to 40 pounds.
Be able to perform repetitive movements, including sitting or kneeling on the floor, bending, and stooping.
Be able to move quickly to attend to a running child.

Responsibilities

Co-teach and co-plan using the assigned curriculum under the lead of the Special Education Teacher and in collaboration with other Daycare Teachers.
Provide high-quality care and instruction through fun, age- and developmentally appropriate activities.
Create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment.
Participate in team meetings, share educational insights, and collaborate on problem-solving.
Maintain open communication with families and keep them informed and supported.
Collaborate with the team to use diverse techniques and perspectives in program design.
Maintain accurate records of children’s progress and attendance and prepare reports for parent conferences.
Attend required training sessions and ensure compliance with OCFS regulations and program requirements.
Perform other duties as assigned.
