About The Position
First Discovery Children's Academy is seeking a Part-time Preschool Chef to join their team at the 5355 Lila Lane location. This role is ideal for someone passionate about preparing nutritious meals, organized, and seeking a positive, family-oriented work environment. The position offers a Monday-Friday schedule with potential for additional hours.
Requirements
- Current Virginia Food Manager Certification
- Previous cooking experience (school or large-group food preparation preferred)
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness and food safety
Responsibilities
- Preparing nutritious breakfasts, lunches, and afternoon snacks following USDA guidelines
- Washing, cutting, and preparing fresh fruits and vegetables
- Planning and preparing monthly snack menus
- Calculating meal portions for children of different age groups
- Maintaining a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen
- Managing food inventory, ordering supplies, and staying within budget
- Keeping kitchen equipment, refrigerators, and pantry areas clean and organized
- Purchasing food and supplies using a company vehicle
- Assisting the management team with additional duties as needed
