About The Position

The Preschool Associate Teacher supports developmentally appropriate practices in an early childhood setting and helps provide a safe, nurturing environment that embraces each student's individuality. The role involves supporting activities that address children's developmental needs and collaborating with colleagues to deliver a child-centered program for children ages 2–5.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid California Child Development Associate Teacher Permit.
• 12 core units of child development.
• At least 50 days of experience working in an early childhood environment.
• Active pediatric CPR, first aid, and AED certification.
• Knowledge of Early Childhood Education curriculum.
• Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices for ages 2–5.
• Knowledge of health, safety, and supervision requirements.
• Ability to collaborate with diverse populations.

Nice To Haves

• A.A./A.S. degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Know and comply with applicable California laws and regulations for preschool centers.
• Support the planning and implementation of developmentally appropriate activities across all developmental domains to meet each child's needs.
• Encourage children to resolve conflicts independently.
• Interact with children and parents to create a welcoming environment.
• Collaborate with colleagues to develop a child-centered program addressing young children's social, emotional, cognitive, and physical needs.
• Model kindness, consideration, and respect.
• Attend and participate in relevant staff, center, and community meetings, activities, and events.
• Assist the lead teacher with lesson planning and implementation.
