About The Position

We are looking for a dedicated individual to join our Early Childhood Education team as an Associate Teacher. This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in the growth and development of children while supporting our mission to provide high-quality education and care. This role involves assisting children safely during transportation, engaging them with age-appropriate activities, and ensuring their well-being. Additionally, the Associate Teacher provides direct care and education to children ages 0-5 in a positive, engaging learning environment, collaborates with the Center Supervisor and Teachers to plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities, and assumes Teacher responsibilities when needed. The position also requires maintaining a safe, clean, and nurturing classroom environment and participating in physical activities with children.

Requirements

  • Has 12 semester units ECE/CD, with a grade C or better, or CDA Credential or CTC.
  • Has 6 months related experience with children ages 0-5 years of age.
  • Has an Associate Teacher Permit or higher.
  • HS/EHS/MSHS/State-Braided Associate Teachers must also meet at least one of the following criteria: Have a child development associate (CDA) credential or the California equivalent of a Child Development Associate Teacher Permit at time of hire (12 ECE semester units including core courses; and for EHS and infant/toddler classrooms must also have 6 infant/toddler semester units) OR Be enrolled in a CDA credential program that will be completed within 2 years; OR Have an associate or bachelor's degree (in any area) or be enrolled in a program leading to such a degree.
  • Depending on the department assigned, a valid California driver’s license, a current DMV driving record, and proof of insurance may be required to fulfill job-related travel.

Responsibilities

  • Assists children safely during boarding, riding, and exiting the bus, including fastening seat belts, maintaining safety, setting limits, keeping children seated, and supporting emergency procedures
  • Keeps the Bus Driver informed about concerns involving individual children or families
  • Engages children with age‑appropriate activities such as games, songs, and conversation during transportation
  • Conducts end‑of‑trip bus inspections by straightening seat belts, removing trash, and checking for children or belongings
  • Ensures the established seating chart is followed
  • Releases children only to authorized adults at the end of the day
  • Verifies all children have been dropped off using sign‑in sheets
  • Provides care and education for children ages 0–5 in a positive, engaging learning environment
  • Collaborates with the Center Supervisor and Teachers to plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities
  • Assumes Teacher responsibilities when needed, guiding instructional assistants, parents, and volunteers
  • Maintains a safe, clean, and nurturing classroom environment
  • Supports the planning and delivery of educational activities that promote child development
  • Participates in physical activities with children, including games, music, and outdoor play
  • Completes pediatric first aid and pediatric CPR training within the first 30 days of hire
  • Completes 16 hours of training on preventive health practices and nutrition within the first 30 days of hire
