About The Position

Preschool Assistants work closely with Preschool Teachers and the Preschool Director to support an excellent classical and Christian education founded upon a biblical worldview. They provide active supervision, support instruction and routines, and help maintain a safe and orderly classroom in compliance with Colorado childcare licensing requirements.

Requirements

  • Spiritually vibrant Christian displaying Christ-centered servant leadership that integrates faith and work in a spirit of humility.
  • Meets Colorado Assistant Early Childhood Teacher qualification pathways; ECPC Level 1 (or higher) preferred OR willingness to obtain within the school’s credentialing timeline.
  • Demonstrated experience working with preschool-age children
  • Exhibits self-awareness, intellectual curiosity, and a desire for ongoing personal and professional growth.
  • Brings an excellent, thoughtful, and approachable communication style, both in writing and verbal.
  • Has a heart for nurturing young children and approaches daily responsibilities with joy, patience, diligence, and faithfulness.
  • Contributes to a unified school community through teamwork, professionalism, and mutual support.

Responsibilities

  • Integrates biblical truth across all subjects and disciplines.
  • Demonstrates consistent application and implementation of classical pedagogy within the classroom, including poetry, chants, jingles, and songs.
  • Collaborates through monthly meetings and seeks assistance and direction from the Preschool Director as needed.
  • Understands preschool course scope, sequence, and materials, help teacher include curricular pacing and implementation.
  • Help the classroom teacher establish and maintain a well-organized classical classroom that follows the guidelines provided.
  • Collaborates with colleagues, ensuring alignment and consistency in pacing, behavior systems, projects and special events within the preschool.
  • Help the classroom teacher inform and educate parents in the classical Christian education model as opportunities arise.
  • Cultivate relationships with students, models, and assist students through the peacemaking process as needed.
  • Trains students in character, manners and respect, organization, management, and care of property.
  • Help the classroom teacher establish manageable class routines to accomplish basic tasks, such as taking attendance, daily cleaning schedules, materials storage, and distribution.
  • Fully embraces, trains, implements, and enforces the published behavioral expectations inside and outside of the classroom at all times.
  • Collaborates with the classroom teacher and the Preschool Director when handling student struggles and concerns regarding discipline.
  • Consults with classroom teacher and the Preschool Director regarding struggling students; brainstorms possible classroom interventions, implements recommended next steps for progress.
  • Works with the classroom teacher and the Preschool Director to ensure proper documentation of student and parent concerns.
  • Provides active supervision at all times and supports compliance with Colorado licensing requirements, including ratios, supervision, attendance support, and health/safety procedures.
  • Follows all published academy policies found in the Employee Handbook and Parent/Student Handbook.
  • Follows Colorado Office of Early Childhood Rules and Regulations in accordance with a large preschool center.
  • Follows the Douglas County Health Authority preschool licensing requirements.
  • Completes required trainings and supports ECPC/PDIS credential verification per school policy (assistants used for ratio purposes must meet Assistant Early Childhood Teacher qualification pathways).
  • Contribute to all-school events such as Open House, art night, and Parent-Teacher Conferences.
  • Work closely with classroom teachers, collaborates, and works more as a team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, consistent with the role and school needs.
