About The Position

The Preschool Assistant Teacher will support the Lead Teacher in creating a welcoming, safe, and engaging classroom environment for all learners. This role involves assisting in lesson preparation and delivery, maintaining classroom organization and cleanliness, and ensuring compliance with TN Early Childhood Licensing Requirements and CCP best practices. The Assistant Teacher will also help implement positive behavior management strategies, supervise children in various settings, and participate in parent conferences as needed. Duties may vary based on the age of the classroom.

Requirements

  • Encompass the qualities and characteristics of Concord staff members as outlined in our Staff Values and State of Faith
  • Per TN Licensing Requirements be at least 21 years of age
  • Agree with and abide by CCS Christian Philosophy of Education

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree, CDA or TECTA certification or 1-3 years experience in early childhood education preferred
  • CPR/1st Aid Certification preferred - can obtain upon hire

Responsibilities

  • Support the Lead Teacher in creating a welcoming, safe and engaging classroom for all learners
  • Support the Lead Teacher in maintaining room cleanliness, organization & visual appeal
  • Assist in preparing and delivering lessons that align with provided curriculum and themes
  • Understand and comply with all TN Early Childhood Licensing Requirements - including ongoing trainings
  • Understand and comply with all CCP requirements and best practices as outlined in the Preschool Operations Manual - including training, staff meetings and events
  • Assist the Lead Teacher in maintaining a consistent schedule and routine
  • Be familiar with the class Sub Folder & step into the Lead Teacher Role when needed
  • Encourage and support creativity and independence during activities and crafts, focusing on child-led learning
  • Assist with gathering and organizing materials for class activities
  • Supervise and engage with children - in room, playground, halls, lunchroom, etc. ensuring their safety and developmental growth
  • Help implement a positive, age-appropriate behavior management approach aligned with school policy
  • Assist with preparing for and participating in parent conferences as needed
  • Help ensure that clean toys, activities, & expectations are developmentally appropriate
  • Work to ensure that confidentiality is maintained by faculty and staff as it pertains to student discipline, academic struggles or staff issues
  • Fulfill other duties as assigned by the administrative team
