About The Position

Lake Area Discovery Center (LADC) is hiring Preschool Assistant Teachers for full-time and part-time positions at the White Bear Lake Redeemer Lutheran Church and Community of Grace Lutheran Church. If you enjoy working with children, value teamwork, and want to be part of a nationally recognized early childhood program, we'd love to meet you! Assistant Teachers work alongside Lead Teachers to create a warm, engaging, and safe classroom where children learn through exploration, play, and meaningful relationships. Responsibilities include supporting daily classroom activities, supervising children, preparing learning materials, assisting with routines, communicating positively with families, and helping maintain a clean, organized classroom environment. Since 1999, Lake Area Discovery Center has partnered with churches and schools throughout the Twin Cities to provide exceptional early childhood education for children ages 6 weeks through Pre-K. Our nationally accredited, faith-based programs combine high-quality academics, hands-on discovery, outdoor learning, and caring relationships to help children grow socially, emotionally, academically, and spiritually. Today, LADC proudly serves thousands of children and families across multiple metro-area locations.

Requirements

  • Experience working with young children (childcare, preschool, nannying, camps, education, or related experience)
  • Ability to meet Minnesota DHS Assistant Teacher qualifications (or willingness to obtain qualifications)
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Genuine enthusiasm for working with young children

Nice To Haves

  • Early Childhood coursework, CDA, or related education preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist in implementing engaging daily learning activities.
  • Support children's social, emotional, cognitive, language, and physical development.
  • Build caring relationships with children and families.
  • Supervise children while maintaining a safe, nurturing environment.
  • Assist with meals, outdoor play, transitions, toileting, and classroom routines.
  • Prepare classroom materials and learning centers.
  • Maintain classroom cleanliness and licensing standards.
  • Collaborate with Lead Teachers and the teaching team.
  • Participate in staff meetings and professional development.
