About The Position

This class is designed to meet the unique needs of 2-year-olds preparing for their next school year. We focus on developing social skills, introducing a structured classroom environment, and encouraging learning through play. Play-based activities are central to the program, fostering a fun and engaging atmosphere for the children. The Assistant for the Preschool class is responsible for helping to plan and implement daily curriculum and activities as well as classroom management in support of the Preschool Lead Teacher. Assist in the development of daily schedules with learning outcomes and monitor children’s attendance, progress and communicate with parents. Follow safety guidelines while providing a safe and comfortable environment for the children. Offer quality customer service. Additional duties include but are not limited to, promoting the preschool program, room set up and regular cleaning, attending staff meetings and trainings, research and purchase of educational materials and supplies, and other duties as assigned. This is an at-will position.

Requirements

  • At least 18 years of age or older.
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Previous teaching experience required.
  • Friendly and creative with the desire to engage and educate children.
  • Strong communication skills in both verbal and written format to communicate effectively with staff, children, and parents.
  • Ability to maintain discretion with regard to confidential matters and/or information.
  • Effective problem-solving skills with the ability to act calmly and effectively under pressure or in difficult situations.
  • Certification in First Aid and CPR is required (will be provided if not current).

Nice To Haves

  • An Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Child Development/Early Childhood Education is preferred, or relevant combination of training and experience.
  • Solid computer and keyboard skills preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task a plus.
