About The Position

The Preschool Aide at St. Simon the Apostle Catholic Church supports lead teachers in providing a safe, nurturing, and faith-centered learning environment for preschool-aged children. This role assists with daily classroom activities, promotes social and emotional development, and helps foster age-appropriate learning experiences while reflecting Catholic values and traditions.

Requirements

  • Completion of required Safe Environment training and background screening.
  • Ability to supervise and assist young children in a classroom setting.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and assist children and classroom materials as needed.
  • Regular attendance and punctuality.
  • Compliance with all school, parish, and Archdiocesan policies and procedures.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe, supportive, and faith-centered learning environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with preschool-aged children in an educational, childcare, or volunteer setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of child development principles and early childhood education practices.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, parents, and students.
  • Patience, reliability, and a nurturing approach to working with young children.
  • Basic organizational and classroom management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the lead teacher with daily classroom instruction and activities.
  • Support students in academic, social, emotional, and spiritual development.
  • Help prepare and organize classroom materials, learning centers, and educational resources.
  • Supervise children during classroom activities, recess, meals, and transitions.
  • Foster a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Reinforce classroom rules, routines, and behavioral expectations.
  • Assist with arts and crafts, storytelling, music, and other age-appropriate learning experiences.
  • Provide individual and small-group support to students as needed.
  • Maintain classroom cleanliness and organization.
  • Communicate effectively with teachers, staff, and parents regarding student needs and progress.
  • Support school events, religious celebrations, and special programs.
  • Adhere to school, parish, and Archdiocesan policies and procedures.
