About The Position

Shrine Catholic Grade School is seeking a Preschool 4 Lead Teacher for their Early Childhood Center. Located in Royal Oak, MI, Shrine Catholic Schools have a long-standing tradition of providing high-quality Catholic education focused on academic excellence, arts, service, and leadership, all within a faith-based environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning, implementing, and organizing daily classroom routines and developmentally appropriate learning opportunities, including large and small group activities, self-selection, snack time, motor skill development, and faith formation. This role also involves attending staff meetings and professional development, documenting student progress, preparing assessment files, maintaining attendance records, and conducting parent-teacher conferences.

Requirements

  • All candidates shall be certified and/or approved for teaching by the Department of Education for the State of Michigan.
  • All teachers are required to hold the appropriate endorsement for the subject(s) they are assigned to teach.

Responsibilities

  • Planning, implementing, and organizing the components of daily classroom routines and developmentally appropriate learning opportunities: large and small group, self-selection (center-based learning), snack, fine and gross motor activities, faith formation, etc.
  • Attend all staff meetings and professional development opportunities
  • Documenting all information pertaining to behavior, development and interactions with parents
  • Preparing and maintaining children's assessment files and progress reports
  • Keeping accurate attendance records of the children
  • Participating in parent/teacher conferences twice a year
  • Design and implement lesson plans that integrate Gospel values into the core curriculum.
  • Apply differentiated instruction and assessment that improves achievement for all learners in a learner-centered and collaborative environment.
  • Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.
  • Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods of instruction.
  • Implement research-based practices including differentiated instruction.
  • Consistently create a high level of active student engagement and student-led learning.
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, spiritual, and emotional development of students.
  • Manage student behavior in accordance with the Code of Conduct, using a positive and proactive management system.
  • Create an environment of respect and rapport, rooted in faith.
  • Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with parents, students, principals, colleagues, and community members.
  • Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly using FACTS.
  • Communicate updates with parents through weekly newsletters.
