About The Position

HPE is looking for a Presales Manager to lead a team of storage presales engineers across multiple customer segments, including commercial, public sector and channel. You'll build and develop a high-performing technical team that drives HPE storage pipeline, wins and customer success, working directly with customers and through our partner community. This role combines people leadership with hands-on technical credibility. You'll set direction for the team, coach engineers on complex opportunities, and work closely with sales, channel and segment leadership to make HPE the storage platform of choice.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
8+ years of technical presales experience in the storage industry, including 3+ years leading or managing presales or technical teams.
Proven track record of building high-performing teams and growing pipeline and revenue across direct and partner sales models.
Experience supporting multiple customer segments, such as commercial, public sector or channel.
Strong technical background in enterprise storage and data management, including block, file, backup, ransomware protection and hybrid cloud.
Working knowledge of virtualization (VMware or KVM-based environments), major application stacks, and at least one major public cloud (AWS, Azure or Google Cloud).
Deep competitive knowledge of the storage market and major vendors.
Strong leadership, coaching and talent development skills, including performance management and hiring.
Understanding of how go-to-market motions differ across segments, including channel partner business models and programs.
Excellent communication and executive presence, comfortable presenting to technical teams and C-level stakeholders alike.
Strong business and financial acumen, with experience using data and metrics to manage team performance and forecast pipeline.
Proficiency with CRM systems and sales operations tools.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and make sound decisions in a fast-moving environment.
Must reside within the geographic area designated for the position.
Ability to travel approximately 40–50% of the time to customer, partner and team locations.

Responsibilities

Lead, coach and develop a team of presales engineers and technical architects across segments, and build a culture of technical excellence, accountability and collaboration.
Hire, onboard and retain top technical talent, and build clear development plans, certification paths and career growth for each team member.
Set team goals and priorities that line up with HPE storage and segment business objectives, and measure performance against them.
Align engineer coverage to accounts, partners and territories to get the most impact and pipeline growth from the team.
Partner with segment sales leaders and account teams to generate, qualify and progress storage opportunities across direct and partner-led motions.
Guide the team on solution design, proofs of concept and competitive strategy for strategic and complex deals, and engage directly on key opportunities.
Build executive and technical relationships with key customers and act as an escalation point for technical needs.
Drive installed-base expansion through new technology adoption, upgrades and refreshes, and develop strategies to counter competitive threats.
Make sure the team maintains accurate, current pipeline data and moves opportunities toward close.
Drive technical engagement with channel partners so they can confidently position, demo and design HPE storage solutions.
Build relationships with partner technical leaders and support partner technical champions and certifications.
Represent HPE at customer, partner and industry events and executive briefings.
Report on team activity, pipeline influence, win rates and enablement results to senior leadership.
Work with product management, marketing, solution specialists and services teams to bring customer and partner feedback into HPE's storage strategy.
Ensure smooth transitions from sale to implementation by coordinating customers, partners, delivery and support teams.
