About The Position

Summerhill Market is a Toronto boutique grocer known for scratch-made prepared foods, freshly baked treats, and on-trend ingredients. They are looking for a passionate, hands-on Prepared Foods Manager to lead one of the busiest and most exciting departments in their stores. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in food retail operations and loves building high-performing teams, overseeing everything from chef-crafted meals and fresh grab-and-go offerings to soups, salads, sandwiches, and hot table programs.

Requirements

Previous leadership experience in prepared foods, grocery, hospitality, catering, or food production
Strong understanding of food operations, inventory control, and merchandising
Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills
Ability to multitask and lead effectively in a high-volume environment
Flexible availability including weekends and holidays as required
A genuine passion for food and delivering an outstanding customer experience

Nice To Haves

Food Handler Certification is considered an asset

Responsibilities

Lead the daily operations of the Prepared Foods Department in a fast-paced retail environment
Oversee food quality, freshness, merchandising, and presentation standards
Manage ordering, inventory, shrink, labour, and department profitability
Coach, mentor, and develop team members while fostering a positive team culture
Ensure all food safety, sanitation, and health & safety standards are maintained
Support production planning and execution to meet sales and volume demands
Deliver exceptional customer service and support a hospitality-driven culture
Jump into operations as needed — this is a hands-on leadership role
