About The Position

Prepares, stocks, weighs and packages Prepared Foods products. Provides exceptional customer service and contributes to a positive and collaborative team environment. This role involves engaging customers in a friendly manner, working a schedule that meets business needs (including evenings, weekends, and holidays), and demonstrating reliable attendance. The position requires a solutions-oriented approach, commitment to diversity and inclusion, and cooperation with team members, customers, and vendors. It also involves adhering to work and food safety policies, maintaining cleanliness, and contributing to store operations. The clerk will utilize a DEI lens in their work and respond constructively to feedback to improve performance. They will also conserve company resources and work in alignment with the company's mission, vision, values, and sustainability program.

Requirements

  • Must complete and maintain any required food and work safety trainings/certifications.
  • Works a schedule that is informed by the needs of the business and may be subject to change seasonally or due to varying staffing needs and demonstrates reliable and predictable attendance, in accordance with attendance policy and all applicable laws.

  • Medium means the worker can occasionally (1 – 33%) lift 50 pounds and can lift or carry objects weighing up to 25 pounds frequently (34 – 66%).

Nice To Haves

  • Previous customer service, food service, retail or grocery experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of retail grocery Prepared Foods, Deli or food production department and / or similar restaurant, café or food industry experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares Prepared Foods department for store opening and closing.
  • Assists customers with product selection and shares product knowledge.
  • Makes recommendations and suggestions based on customer needs.
  • Prepares, cuts, wraps, weighs, tares, prices and presents Prepared Foods department products.
  • Stocks and maintains Prepared Foods cases and stations.
  • Processes customers’ made-to-order items accurately and expeditiously.
  • Assists with food preparation and production.
  • Completes customer special orders thoroughly and provides follow-through.
  • Stocks, rotates and faces products with attention to product quality and expiration dates.
  • Receives and unloads merchandise; checks quality, count and condition.
  • Communicates any issues to management and merchandising team.
  • Maintains cleanliness, organization and rotation of all areas, products and supplies.
  • Maintains accurate pricing and signage that meet merchandising standards.
  • Understands and complies with specific shift guidelines, tasks and responsibilities.
  • Maintains awareness of current ads, promotions, holidays and events.
  • Handles damaged and spoiled product according to company policy.
  • Demonstrates familiarity with products in department and general understanding of culinary terminology, product labelling and common dietary restrictions, with willingness to continue learning.
  • Notifies department manager or Manager On Duty of any situations relating to customer service, safety, productivity, security or any other situation that may have an adverse effect on the store.
