About The Position

The Blast Technician is responsible for preparing Differential components for the painting process by sandblasting parts to remove rust, paint, scale, dirt, and other surface contaminants. This role ensures parts are properly cleaned and prepared to meet quality standards before moving into the paint and final prep stages. The Blast Technician must operate blasting equipment safely, maintain a clean work area, and inspect parts to ensure they are ready for the next step in the remanufacturing process. Attention to detail, safety, and efficiency are essential to success in this position.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
  • Ability to coordinate/prioritize/organize.
  • Knowledge of safe work practices required in the department.
  • Strong problem solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain goal-focused in a fast-paced work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare Differential components for the blasting process by ensuring parts are properly positioned and secured.
  • Operate blasting equipment safely and efficiently to remove rust, paint, dirt, and other contaminants from parts.
  • Inspect blasted components to verify they are clean, dry, and meet quality standards before moving to the next stage of production.
  • Safely operate overhead hoists to load and unload racked units into and out of the blasting machine.
  • Monitor the blasting cycle and ensure equipment is operating correctly throughout the process.
  • Transfer completed parts from racks to containers using overhead hoists and manual lifting techniques as required.
  • Transport loaded carts of differential units and other components to the paint booth or designated production area.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment by following all housekeeping and safety procedures.
  • Perform routine inspections of equipment and report any maintenance or safety concerns to the appropriate personnel.
  • Communicate effectively with the Supervisor, Team Lead, and Paint Technician regarding job status, production flow, and any quality or equipment issues.
  • Cross-train in other production areas and assist with additional duties as assigned to support operational needs.
  • Follow all company safety policies, quality standards, and standard operating procedures.
