About The Position

The Prep Cook position at Marriott Residence Inn Downtown Raleigh is responsible for preparing a variety of food items and ensuring the kitchen operates smoothly. This role requires adherence to recipes, maintaining a clean work environment, and contributing to a positive team atmosphere. The position involves a 40-hour work week, potentially including evenings and weekends, with hours beyond 40 requiring supervisor approval for non-exempt associates.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Command of English including speaking, reading, writing
  • Experience in a food production environment
  • High energy and professional demeanor
  • Proven ability to read and follow recipes with minimum supervision
  • Able to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment
  • Excellent people skills; able to give clear instructions with a positive attitude.
  • Flexible schedule including mornings, nights, and weekends
  • Able to lift 50 lbs
  • Standing, sitting, walking, reaching, and bending for extended periods of time
  • Professional appearance
  • Hairnet or hat must be worn
  • Clean non-slip shoes
  • Clean black pants
  • Clean plain white apron (provided)
  • Valid Driver’s License

Responsibilities

  • Prepare a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables, and dairy products for cooking using various kitchen equipment.
  • Complete opening and closing checklists.
  • Refer to the Daily Prep List at the start of each shift for assigned duties.
  • Consistently comply with standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards, kitchen rules, recipes, and hotel policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary work area.
  • Follow approved plate presentations and garnishes for all dishes.
  • Handle, store, label, and rotate all products properly in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Stock and maintain sufficient inventories of food products at line stations to ensure smooth service.
  • Close the kitchen properly and follow the closing checklist for kitchen stations, assisting others as needed.
  • Attend all scheduled employee meetings and offer suggestions for improvement and safety.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the General Manager or Manager On Duty.
