About The Position

At True Food Kitchen, prep cooks are essential to serving great food. They consistently and efficiently prepare and portion food products, beautifully plate and garnish dishes, and ensure food is ready for guests. The role involves accurately preparing and portioning food products prior to service, as well as performing other duties in food and final plate preparation, including plating and garnishing cooked items. The seasonal menu offers a variety of recipes to prepare throughout the year.

Requirements

• Experience in kitchen preparation would be beneficial
• Preferably have at least 6 months experience in a similar capacity in a high-volume restaurant
• Exhibit exceptional knife skills
• Are able to work efficiently in a high volume, fast paced environment
• Read and execute a recipe
• The flexibility and availability to work nights, holidays and/or weekends should be doable
• A love of making great food!

Responsibilities

• Prepare menu ingredients following a recipe to produce consistent results
• Complete prep list, maintain station throughout shift, follow all specifications, and stock items as needed
• Rinse and cuts raw food products
• Portion products and follow recipes to ensure plate presentation looks great
• Stock and maintain sufficient levels of food products at line stations to assure a smooth service period
• Prepare items for broiling, grilling, sautéing or other cooking methods based off recipe requirements
• Follow proper plate presentation and garnish set up for all dishes
• Handle, store, and rotate all products properly
• Follows sanitization standards, ensuring work station stays clean and organized, and follows all food handling standards.
