About The Position

Prepares food and serves customers in accordance with applicable federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations. This role is responsible for obtaining the daily production schedule and preparation requirements from the Chef, preparing items on production sheets following established quantities and recipes, and completing daily production worksheets and waste log sheets. The Prep Cook will also taste completed meals to ensure quality, operate and clean equipment per department procedures, and store, label, and date all food items according to policy. Adherence to HACCP guidelines and completion of all required documentation are also essential duties. The role involves taking orders from customers, preparing items requiring short preparation time, and serving customers in an efficient and friendly manner from steam tables and grills at multiple stations, using approved food recipes and production standards to ensure proper quality, serving temperatures, and portion control. Resolving customer concerns and performing other assigned duties are also part of the role. Note that for positions in educational facilities, there may be periods of unpaid temporary layoff during breaks, though year-round work may be required.

Requirements

  • 1 year of working in a high-volume professional kitchen using knives and commercial cutting equipment.

  • Completes orders from steam tables and grill and serves customers at multiple stations.
  • Uses approved food recipes and production standards to ensure proper quality, serving temperatures and standard portion control.
  • Stores, labels and dates all food items according to policy.
  • Follows HACCP guidelines to ensure quality and safety of food supply.
  • Resolves customer concerns.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
