About The Position

The Hilton Garden Inn Denver Union Station is a 233-room hotel on the edge of the Union Station neighborhood. Denver is at our doorstep: Union Station, Coors Field, and the Museum of Contemporary Art are all within a half-mile. We are one mile from events at the Ball Arena, with city dining all around, including our own Woodie Fisher Kitchen and Bar – the oldest structure remaining in Denver’s iconic Union Station neighborhood. This position is open until 9/14/2026 or until filled.

Requirements

  • Minimum of one year of experience in a food establishment.
  • Requires the ability to work as a team member and the ability to communicate with kitchen staff.
  • Lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying: all these functions are essential primarily due to the large volume associated with banquets. Items include food, small equipment -75% of the time.
  • Bending of the knees is necessary when using the lower oven for cooking, 5-10 times per day.
  • Mobility: full range of motion and the ability to travel 30 to 50 feet regularly throughout the day.
  • Standing for preparation, during service hours, usually all day.
  • Must have moderate hearing to hear equipment timers and communicate with other staff.
  • Must have excellent vision to see that product is prepared properly.
  • Must have moderate comprehension and literacy to read usage logs and all special requests.
  • Lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying. The position regularly involves lifting food boxes and meters weighing up to 70 pounds.
  • Pushing and pulling of carts is required.

Responsibilities

  • Consults Daily Prep List at the beginning of each shift for assigned tasks.
  • Prepares a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables and other food items for cooking in grills, ovens, broilers, sauté burners and a variety of other kitchen equipment.
  • Understands and consistently uses our standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and rules, policies and procedures in the kitchen.
  • Maintains a clean and hygienic work area including tables, shelves, equipment, and refrigeration equipment.
  • Closes the kitchen properly and follows the kitchen station closing checklist.
  • Assists others in closing the kitchen.
  • Attends all scheduled employee meetings and brings suggestions for improvement.
  • Immediately reports equipment and food quality issues to the on-duty Chef.
  • Reports any safety issues to the on-duty Chef.
  • Immediately informs the on-duty Chef of any product shortages.
  • Uses our standard recipe card to prepare all products.
  • Returns all unused food from the shift to the designated storage areas, ensuring proper covering/dating of all perishable items.
  • Dates all food containers and labels them according to General Operating Procedures for inventory, ensuring all perishable items are maintained at proper temperatures.
  • Answers, reports and follows orders from the executive or chef.
  • Complies with nutrition and sanitation and safety standards.
