About The Position

This role involves assisting kitchen staff in maintaining kitchen cleanliness and supporting various camp operations. The position requires adherence to camp policies, ensuring safety for staff and campers, and participating in camp-wide activities. A key aspect of this role is to contribute to the smooth operation of the camp by assisting in duties not directly related to the specific job description when necessary. Requirements

  • 18+ years of age.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification (may be obtained at camp).
  • Must have or obtain ServSafe certification at time of employment.
  • Experience in foodservice and cleaning, preferably in camp setting.
  • Familiar with USDA standards.
  • Organizational and time management skills.
  • Maintain a high standard of personal and communal living and behaviors.

Responsibilities

  • Attend and participate in evening programs and spiritual activities.
  • Maintain a standard of cleanliness in personal grooming and living quarters.
  • Assist with the clean-up of the total camp at the end of each session and at the conclusion of the summer.
  • Assist with evening cabin activities.
  • Attend and participate in Staff Orientation.
  • Attend and participate in all camp wide activities, campfires, staff meetings and staff devotions.
  • Assist with Camper check-in and check-out.
  • Enforce, and abide by, all camp policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for the health and well-being of self and campers.
  • Maintain the utmost level of safety for staff and campers at all times.
  • Practice and enforce all camp safety regulations and emergency procedures.
  • Maintain group/staff control at specialized group activities so that other support staff can focus on safety.
  • Ensure compliance with American Camping Association standards of safety and programmatic conduct at all times.
  • Coordinate and implement all program components relative to the daily schedule in a timely fashion.
  • Attend relevant in-service trainings.
  • Assist Kitchen Manager, 2nd Cook, and Kitchen staff in maintaining kitchen cleanliness.
  • Assist kitchen supervisor in all duties.
  • Assist in maintaining all functions a kitchen requires.
  • Assist in maintaining proper cleanliness and sanitation standards in all areas of the kitchen.
  • Perform all other duties and roles assigned.
  • Assist in duties not directly related to this specific job description as necessary for the smooth operation of the camp.
  • Comply with all reasonable requests from supervisors.

Benefits

  • Sick leave benefit – 1 day per month, 12 sick days per year (accrual and availability begins at hire; sick time accrual is pro-rated for part-time hours.)
