About The Position

Northwood Club, established in 1946, is a premier country club in Dallas, Texas, known for its excellence in Tennis, Golf, and Culinary arts. With an annual food and beverage revenue of $3.2 million, the club offers comprehensive facilities and events for professionals and families. We are seeking a dedicated Prep Cook to join our culinary team, responsible for executing banquet event preparations. Requirements

  • High school education; or up to two years related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to work in a team-oriented, high-volume guest-centric environment.
  • Reliable attendance, strong organization, and ability to follow direction are important.
  • May be required to read banquet event orders and recipes.
  • Must be able to print and speak simple sentences.
  • May be required to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
  • Use measuring methods.
  • May be required to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one and two step instructions.
  • Deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
  • Frequently stands and walks; uses hands to finger, feels or handle; reach with hands and arms.
  • Consistent use of kitchen equipment and knives.
  • Occasionally stoops, kneels, crawls, crouches, sits, talks or hears.
  • Regularly lifts up to 25 pounds and occasionally lifts up to 50 pounds.
  • Regularly uses close, distance, color, and peripheral vision as well as depth perception.
  • Ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be at least age 18.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous banquets, hotel, country club, or high-volume kitchen preferred.
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of commercial kitchen equipment such as slicers, fryers, flat tops, grills, mixers, and vacuum sealers preferred.
  • Certifications in City of Dallas Food Safety, Certified Culinarian preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare salads, desserts, platters, sauces, sandwiches, garnishes, and other banquet prep items.
  • Follow prep lists, recipes, and labeling instructions.
  • Ensure proper food safety and sanitation standards to ensure member safety.
  • Assist with banquet plating, setup, and breakdown.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area.
  • Support the kitchen team during high-volume events and tournaments.
  • Prepare high-quality food items to order for members.
  • Follow recipe and presentation guidelines to meet or exceed members' expectations.
  • Meet special member requests while ensuring high-quality standards.
  • Maintain flexibility to take on new and different tasks as directed by the Department Manager/Supervisor.
  • Incorporate safe work practices in job performance.
  • Attend staff meetings when required.
