About The Position

Self Help, Inc. is seeking a Prep Cook to join our team. We are a nonprofit Community Action Agency (CAA) dedicated to helping families and individuals stabilize and secure their lives through education, strategic assistance, and building opportunities in their communities. We offer a range of services for families and households across Southeastern Massachusetts.

Requirements

Must pass a criminal background check and other required clearances
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation is required
Must be able to lift 30-50lbs.
Minimum of three Years of professional experience in healthcare, schools, institutional feeding or restaurant setting
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Valid food handling certification required

Responsibilities

Works with the Head Cook in preparation and distribution of Food for the Child feeding program, including diets for children with allergies and separate lunches in accordance with C.A.C.F.P guidelines and state and Federal regulations.
Works with the Head Cook in preparation of food for other activities.
Assisting in receiving deliveries and storage along with the proper rotation of food and dairy supplies, and appropriate storage of all foods to ensure safe, quality foods.
Assists in maintaining orderliness and cleanliness of kitchen along with equipment, floors, supplies and work areas according with local, state and federal sanitation code.
Assists the kitchen aids in the delivery of all meals and cleanup of dishes and silverware.
Attend all training sessions as required.
Communicates appropriately and effectively with all staff to coordinate daily menus.
Upholds the principles and policies of the nutrition and Head Start performance standards.
