About The Position

The Prep Cook position at Valley River Inn is responsible for preparing daily preparation requirements according to specification sheets and maintaining par levels of necessary items. This role involves preparing new menu items under the direction of a supervisor, ensuring attractive and consistent presentations of food items for both buffet and plated service. The Prep Cook will interact with line cooks to monitor food quality, presentation, and consistency, and handle customer requests in a timely manner. Key duties include setting up, re-stocking, maintaining, and cleaning food preparation areas, ensuring presentation standards for all hot and cold items are met, and reading and interpreting recipes. Additionally, the role involves conducting product inventories and ordering/receiving product under supervisor direction, maintaining team grooming standards, ensuring adherence to sanitation and safe food handling standards, and performing all opening and closing kitchen procedures.

Requirements

  • Previous cooking experience preferred
  • Necessary State Food Handler’s License(s)
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instruction, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one on one and small group situations to other employees of the organization
  • Must possess knife skills, the ability to adjust preparations for flavor, and accommodate customer’s needs in a timely manner

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all opening and closing kitchen procedures
