About The Position

The Prep Cook supports kitchen operations by preparing ingredients, maintaining organization and cleanliness, and ensuring stations are stocked and ready for service. This role plays a critical part in food quality, safety, and operational efficiency by providing the foundation for successful daily execution.

Requirements

  • Previous kitchen or food prep experience preferred but not required
  • Basic knife skills and willingness to learn culinary techniques
  • Understanding of food safety practices or ability to obtain certification
  • Ability to follow recipes and written prep lists
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality
  • Strong attention to detail and organization
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods
  • Flexibility to work early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays

Responsibilities

  • Wash, chop, slice, portion, and prepare ingredients according to recipes and prep lists
  • Label, date, rotate, and store food following food safety standards
  • Assist cooks with station setup and breakdown
  • Prepare sauces, stocks, dressings, and batch recipes as directed
  • Maintain cleanliness of prep areas, coolers, and storage spaces
  • Follow sanitation and health department guidelines
  • Assist with receiving deliveries and verifying product quality
  • Notify supervisors of low inventory or product concerns
  • Support special projects, catering, and banquet prep as needed
  • Safely operate kitchen equipment including slicers, mixers, and food processors
  • Dispose of waste properly and follow recycling protocols
  • Maintain professional conduct and teamwork
