About The Position

The Prep Cook/Barista is a crucial member of the culinary team, responsible for preparing ingredients and supporting café operations to ensure smooth and efficient service. This role involves providing excellent customer service, executing basic cooking techniques, maintaining food safety standards, and assisting the café manager in preparing meals and crafting coffees. Arc Broward is a nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming the lives of people with developmental disabilities and other life challenges.

Requirements

  • At least two years of professional kitchen experience or culinary training is required.
  • Basic knife skills and an understanding of kitchen equipment are essential.
  • Accuracy in following recipes and instructions is crucial.
  • A strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment are highly valued.
  • Valid FL driver’s license and successful Level II background check, physical and drug screen.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma/GED preferred.
  • ServeSafe certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Wash, peel, chop, and portion ingredients according to recipes and production schedules.
  • Assist in preparing café options for guests (coffee, salad, sandwiches, etc.)
  • Assist with keeping the café clean and always guest ready.
  • Adequate rotation of products.
  • Set up and stock stations with necessary supplies.
  • Label and store food items properly to ensure freshness and minimize waste.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of prep areas, coolers, and storage.
  • Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines, including proper handling and storage of ingredients.
  • Ensure compliance with HACCP and local health department regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with the supervisor and fellow team members to ensure timely and accurate food production.
  • Participate in kitchen deep cleaning and inventory as needed.
