About The Position

Reston Surgery Center, part of HCA Healthcare, is seeking a PreOp PACU Nurse for its ambulatory surgery center. The nurse provides safe and effective postoperative nursing care until patients are dismissed from the facility, supporting a caring and comforting experience for patients and their families. The center is located in Reston, Virginia, is AAAHC accredited, and provides a broad range of surgical and specialty procedures.

Requirements

Associate Degree in Nursing, RN Diploma, or higher degree in Nursing.
At least 1 year of nursing experience in a clinical setting; Preop, PACU, ER, ICU, or Surgery experience is preferred.
Active RN license as required by the state of employment.
BCLS certification upon employment; online certification is not acceptable.
ACLS certification required within 30 days of hire.
PALS certification, if required by the facility, within 30 days of hire.

Clinical nursing experience in Preop, PACU, ER, ICU, or Surgery.

Responsibilities

Prepare patient care areas and ensure necessary equipment and supplies are available.
Demonstrate proper airway management techniques.
Monitor patients according to policy, including vital signs, temperature, and cardiac status.
Properly insert, maintain, and remove IV catheters and saline locks.
Perform and document head-to-toe patient evaluations using an approved scoring system in accordance with HCA policy and procedure.
Check patient dressings and/or operative sites and report abnormalities to the surgeon.
Provide a safe and comforting environment for patients and families.
Ensure patients meet discharge criteria.
