About The Position

Lee’s Summit Surgicenter, part of HCA Healthcare, is hiring a Perioperative Nurse for its ambulatory surgery center. The nurse plans, executes, and evaluates nursing care provided before and after surgery until patients are discharged. The role includes preparing patient care areas, ensuring equipment and supplies are available, assessing patients and their histories and diagnostic tests, administering prescribed preoperative medications and IV therapy, and supporting safe discharge. The nurse is expected to reflect HCA Healthcare and the center’s values and provide quality, family-centered care.

Requirements

• Associate Degree in Nursing, RN Diploma, or a higher degree in Nursing.
• At least 1 year of nursing experience in a clinical setting; experience in PACU, ICU, or surgery is preferred.
• Active RN license as required by the state of employment.
• BCLS certification upon employment; online certification is not acceptable.
• ACLS certification within 30 days of hire.
• PALS certification within 30 days of hire if required by the facility.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients’ care areas before procedures.
• Ensure necessary equipment and supplies are available for each procedure.
• Conduct complete physical and psychological assessments and evaluate patients’ histories and diagnostic tests.
• Administer prescribed preoperative medications and intravenous therapy.
• Use proper technique for insertion, maintenance, and removal of IV catheters and saline locks.
• Check patient dressings and operative sites and report abnormalities to the surgeon.
• Ensure patients meet discharge criteria.
• Plan, execute, and evaluate preoperative and postoperative nursing care until patients are discharged.
