About The Position

Mays Plastic Surgery and Med Spa is seeking a Preop/PACU and Recovery Nurse to monitor and care for patients waking up from anesthesia. The nurse monitors vital signs and levels of consciousness and watches for anesthesia side effects. Working alongside physicians, nurses, and other medical staff, the nurse communicates changes in patients’ conditions and provides patients and their families with instructions on post-operative care, including medication use and managing pain. The role involves caring for one or two patients at a time in a fast-paced environment and providing care before transferring them to their next destination. Mays Plastic Surgery and Med Spa is described as Louisville’s newest and premier Plastic Surgery and Med Spa clinic, led by Dr. Chet Mays, a board-certified plastic surgeon.

Requirements

Currently licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of employment.
Excellent interpersonal and patient care skills.
Valid driver’s license.
ACLS certified.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience as a PACU/Preop and Recovery Nurse is preferred.

Responsibilities

Administer medications to treat pain, nausea, and other post-operative symptoms of anesthesia.
Monitor patients for side effects or reactions.
Document changes in patient conditions and report them.
Maintain accurate records of patient care and discuss observations with the supervisor or physician.
Keep patient bandages and dressings clean, dry, and safe.
Educate patients and their families about post-surgery care and answer their questions.
Monitor patients’ vital signs and levels of consciousness as they recover from anesthesia.
Communicate changes in patients’ conditions to physicians, nurses, and other medical staff.
Explain post-operative care to patients and families, including medication use and what to do if pain occurs.
Provide care before transferring patients to their next destination.
