About The Position

St. Paul Academy and Summit School (SPA) is seeking candidates for the position of PreKindergarten Aid. SPA is a coeducational, non-sectarian, college preparatory day school serving more than 920 students in kindergarten through grade 12. Our two campuses are located approximately a mile apart in St. Paul, Minnesota, serving Grades K-5 on our Goodrich Campus and Grades 6-12 on our Randolph Campus. The school draws students from St. Paul, Minneapolis, and throughout the eastern and western suburbs. Requirements

Experience teaching Pre-kindergarten
Understanding of child development
Deep love for the ages and stages of Pre-Kindergarten students
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Knowledge of best instructional practices in literacy, math, and social studies
Commitment to developing cultural competence in their teaching and working effectively in diverse environments
Differentiating instruction
Collaborating effectively with colleagues and families
Demonstrating strong interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills to build rapport and trust with individuals from diverse backgrounds
Ability to lift 35 lbs, sit on small chairs and/or floor
Occasional attendance at school events outside of school hours

Responsibilities

Support young learners in all core subjects (literacy, math, and social studies)
Assist with class
Foster a nurturing, engaging classroom
Collaboration with teaching partners, colleagues, and families is essential
Cleaning, organizing, and resetting curricular areas
Assist with Observations
Assist with Conferences
Assist with Work Sampling/Documentation
Supporting students with classroom needs including clothing changes, hygiene, etc.
Outdoor play and supervision
Attend Professional Development as required
Carry out the mission of SPA, "Shaping the minds and hearts of the people who will change the world," to support the vision of the Lower School.
