About The Position

The Insights Program at the Early Learning Center provides a highly structured environment utilizing Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) principles to foster social and academic skill development. A multimodal, multi-sensory language-based approach is employed for communication development. Students receive individualized and small group instruction, with staff support for daily living skills. Positive behavioral supports and sensory tools are used to promote self-regulation. Effective communication among home, school, and external service providers is crucial for skill generalization across environments.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree preferred
  • Massachusetts Licensure as a Teacher of Students with Moderate Disabilities (PreK-8) or Severe (ALL)
  • Exceptions to the qualifications may be made as the Superintendent deems appropriate and acceptable
  • Safety care trained preferred
  • 1-2 years as a special educator
  • Training or work experience in ABA
  • Social Thinking ELL and SEL training preferred
  • Culturally responsive teaching

Responsibilities

  • Completes all special education requirements including progress reports, IEP development, and facilitation of annual review meetings.
  • Develops and administers curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.
  • Utilizes ABA principles within whole class, small group, and 1:1 instruction.
  • Collaborates with general education and related service staff to ensure implementation of students' IEPs and meeting student needs.
  • Promotes a positive classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.
  • Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction.
  • Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs, including students with special needs; conducts individual and small group instruction as needed.
  • Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws.
  • Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
  • Coordinates with other early childhood and/or elementary professional staff members, especially within grade level, to evaluate and assess curriculum, and participates in faculty meetings and committees.
  • Supervises students in activities that take place out of the classroom during the school day, including activities involving school transportation and personal care including toileting/feeding.
  • Administers standardized tests in accordance with District testing programs.
