About The Position
Under teacher direction, assist the student or students in a range of instructional and social settings - individualized, large group, cooperative learning groups, playground, self-contained or mainstream classes. Foster student independence/reliance on self and assistance from peers, as needed. Enforce school rules and regulations and handle disciplinary problems fairly and firmly reporting serious infractions to classroom teacher and/or building administrator. Carry out other duties, as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum of two years of college or equivalent two years experience working with children.
- Superior interpersonal skills with parents and staff.
- Ability to communicate and interact effectively with classroom teacher.
Nice To Haves
- Proven behavior management skills.
- Experience assisting students in inclusion/mainstream models and in self- contained settings.
