About The Position

The Albuquerque Sign Language Academy is looking for an Educational Assistant for a 3 and 4 year old classroom for a start-up early childhood program that will operate for the 2026-27 school year.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED equivalent
• Pass criminal background check and fingerprint clearance
• Must be patient and nurturing
• Must be physically able to meet the needs of active, small children
• Must possess excellent communication and organizational skills
• Must be coachable and willing to take instruction from lead teacher

Nice To Haves

• All experiences in the field of working with young children valued, formal and informal
• Working proficiency of American Sign Language or enthusiastic willingness to learn

Responsibilities

• Assist teacher in prepping materials
• Actively support inclusion of children of all abilities
• Communicate with teacher and follow the teacher’s guidance regarding all, but not limited to, academic activities, group work, behavior supports and daily schedule
• Closely and actively monitor and engage with students at all times during the instructional day, including all structured and unstructured times
• Help children with daily hygiene routines, including handwashing, toileting, meals, and nap time
• Keep classroom clean, sanitized and organized throughout the day and end of day
• Interact with students and their families that build positive relationships
• Flexibility to adapt to varying student, teacher and classroom needs
