About The Position

The Prefabrication Engineer is responsible for the configuration, documentation, and prefabrication of equipment for security integration projects. This role plays a critical part in preparing IP-based security systems including cameras, access control panels, intrusion detection devices, and network equipment for deployment. The Prefabrication Engineer ensures that all equipment is properly configured, documented, and labeled to streamline field installation and service support. Collaboration with project managers and service teams is essential, along with occasional fieldwork for installations and service calls.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in security systems, low-voltage electrical work, or similar technical field.
  • Familiarity with IP-based security technologies and equipment (cameras, access control, intrusion).
  • Experience using configuration tools and documentation platforms such as SiteOwl.
  • Strong understanding of network devices and protocols.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Comfortable working independently as well as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Willingness to assist with occasional field installations and service support.

Responsibilities

  • Configure and pre-program IP cameras, including firmware upgrades and mounting preparation.
  • Document all device IP addresses, MAC addresses, and names within SiteOwl for: IP Cameras, Mercury access control boards, Wireless intrusion devices, Network antennas, Network communicators.
  • Load and wire Mercury boards into Life Safety Power Supplies.
  • Prefabricate and label all security system components prior to shipment.
  • Assist Project Managers in building accurate SiteOwl documentation.
  • Program and document IP intrusion panel network communicators.
  • Set up COPS Monitoring accounts and input project-specific information.
  • Program control panel keypads and wireless devices.
  • Assist with both remote project and service programming efforts.
  • Support local onsite service calls and national project installations as agreed upon with leadership.
  • Create and apply labels (via SiteOwl) for all devices and mounts to ensure proper field identification.
  • Package and prepare all materials for shipping after successful configuration and prefab.
