About The Position
Gaston Electrical, a wholly owned subsidiary of EMCOR Group, is a union electrical and low-voltage contractor serving commercial, institutional, life-sciences, hospitality, and retail markets in New England. In this role, you will learn to safely assemble electrical components in a climate-controlled shop for installation on various projects. The position may be a good opportunity for someone interested in entering the Local 103 Union apprenticeship program and subsequently working on a jobsite.
Requirements
- Interest in learning the electrical trade.
- Interest in joining IBEW Local 103.
- Reading, writing, and arithmetic skills.
- Punctuality and excellent attendance.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Manual dexterity to operate machinery and handle small parts.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and walk or stand for long periods.
- Ability to get to the Gaston Prefab shop daily.
Responsibilities
- Learn to splice wires, make connections, and assemble in-wall box assemblies.
- Understand power, lighting, and equipment wiring.
- Prepare wiring for light fixtures and install the fixtures.
- Wire panelboards according to specifications.
- Bend conduit and assemble rigid conduit.
- Thread rigid conduit pipe.
- Clean and maintain work areas.
- Receive, verify, and package products for shipping, including shrink-wrapping, boxing, and labeling.
- Stage products for loading.
- Read and understand prefabrication prints.
