About The Position

The Predictive Maintenance (PdM) & OTIT Engineering Intern supports the configuration, deployment, and adoption of OTIT solutions in a manufacturing environment. This role is focused on configuring predictive and preventative maintenance templates that use plant floor data to automatically generate actionable maintenance notifications and work orders in SAP. In addition to technical configuration work, this role plays an important part in helping factory teams understand, adopt, and trust OTIT as a day-to-day maintenance and reliability tool. The intern will work closely with maintenance, reliability, controls engineers, and external partners to ensure solutions are practical, aligned with equipment behavior, and effectively used by the factory. This is a hands-on intern role that blends technical learning, plant-floor exposure, and collaboration with manufacturing teams.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, industrial engineering, mechatronics, or a related engineering field.
  • Strong interest in manufacturing, maintenance, or equipment reliability.
  • Basic understanding of industrial equipment and manufacturing processes.
  • Comfortable working in factory environments and interacting with maintenance and engineering teams.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
  • Hands-on, detail-oriented, and motivated to learn through observation and practice.

Nice To Haves

  • Coursework or exposure to maintenance, reliability engineering, or equipment health concepts.
  • Familiarity with PLCs, sensors, or industrial data systems.
  • Interest in predictive maintenance or condition-based maintenance strategies.
  • Exposure to SAP maintenance notifications or work orders.
  • Previous internship, co-op, or hands-on technical experience in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support the configuration of predictive maintenance (PdM) templates for common manufacturing assets such as motors, pumps, fans, valves, and process equipment.
  • Assist with configuring preventative maintenance (PvM) templates that enable condition-based adjustments to existing maintenance plans.
  • Help define and validate rules, thresholds, and indicators that support early detection of equipment issues and effective maintenance decision-making.
  • Apply standardized templates across similar equipment to improve consistency and reduce site-specific customization.
  • Support collaboration with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and third-party service providers to understand recommended operating limits, thresholds, and failure indicators.
  • Assist in applying OEM and vendor guidance to PdM and PvM templates so alerts align with asset design and expected behavior.
  • Contribute to reviewing historical data, factory experience, and third-party recommendations when supporting threshold decisions.
  • Document threshold assumptions and sources to improve consistency, transparency, and long-term trust.
  • Support configuration efforts that automatically generate maintenance notifications and work orders in SAP.
  • Assist with testing and validation to ensure PdM and PvM conditions result in clear, actionable maintenance tasks.
  • Work with maintenance and reliability teams to confirm alerts align with how work is planned and executed on site.
  • Support initiatives to improve preventative maintenance strategies using actual equipment condition and performance.
  • Assist in identifying opportunities where predictive insights can reduce unnecessary maintenance or prevent unplanned downtime.
  • Help document early detections, avoided failures, and maintenance improvements supported by OTIT.
  • Help factory teams understand what OTIT is, how it is used, and how it supports maintenance and reliability work.
  • Support basic walkthroughs and explanations of dashboards, alerts, and SAP maintenance notifications.
  • Assist in answering questions from maintenance, engineering, and operations teams.
  • Collect feedback from site teams to help improve usability, clarity, and adoption.
  • Support the creation of simple documentation or job aids to reinforce learning and adoption.
  • Spend time on the plant floor observing equipment behavior, maintenance activities, and failure modes.
  • Work alongside maintenance and controls teams during testing, tuning, and deployment activities.
  • Document configurations, template behavior, and lessons learned to support future site deployments.
