About The Position

At Ajax Building Company, part of the STO Building Group, the Preconstruction Manager leads the estimating and planning functions, driving accurate cost modeling, budgeting, and buy-out strategies across projects. This role ensures reliable, data-driven estimates by overseeing pricing consistency, maintaining cost history, and continuously refining forecasting methodologies. The Preconstruction Manager also serves as a key liaison between preconstruction and operations, facilitating clear communication and informed decision-making throughout the project lifecycle. This position reports directly to the Director of Preconstruction Services.

Requirements

8-10+ years of preconstruction experience.
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field, OR a degree in another field with 8+ years of preconstruction experience.
Position requires an understanding of industry practices and trends and their impact on the corporation.
Strong interpersonal, communicative, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

Creation and distribution of design phase deliverable reports.
Subcontractor solicitation.
Development of GMP proposals.
Must establish and maintain relationships with architects, owners, engineers, designers, clients, and others for potential business development.
