About The Position

AECOM Hunt is adding a Preconstruction Manager to our team of professionals in our Dallas, Texas office. This role manages the day-to-day pre-construction operations, including communicating, proposing, and preparing preliminary budget estimates, design cost estimates, design-development cost estimates, and guaranteed maximum price (GMP) proposals, inclusive of value engineering. The position involves analyzing and acquiring additional project information such as preliminary schedules, procurement schedules, cost analysis, GMPs, construction documents, blueprints, and bid packages from subcontractors and contractors. The Preconstruction Manager will gather information and data to demonstrate best practices and value engineering for cost savings opportunities to senior leaders of the Pre-Construction team to relay to clients in an effort to meet budget constraints. This role also manages the pre-construction, estimating, scheduling, and procurement team to research and compile budget estimates and costs from the pre-concept design stage to the construction document stage. Working within the scope of the project’s pre-construction estimates and financial analysis, the role researches and considers the interests of all parties, supervises the team, and reviews, analyzes, and estimates the cost of drawings, BIM, and specifications of projects, proposes means and methods of construction, and recommends cost savings or potential problems on the project. The Preconstruction Manager prepares pre-construction budgets and ensures the availability of the most recent proposals, costs, estimates, and projections. They prepare and demonstrate the viability of budgets and relay this information to the pre-con team (clients, architects, and Project Management Executives, etc.). The role articulates and presents the correct strategy and pricing for each component of the construction cost to provide clients with the most competitive and accurate pricing available. Additionally, the Preconstruction Manager oversees schedule and work load priorities with staff and organizes the estimating schedule. They manage team and staff workload, distribute drawings, specifications, bulletins, and all pertinent information to all estimating staff so they can complete their assigned tasks. Finally, the role reviews bids to sub-contractors, reviews scopes of work, and analyzes costs as bids are received.

Requirements

  • BS Construction Management/Engineering or similar curriculum and 8 years of demonstrated construction preconstruction experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/ or education.
  • This position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization now or in the future.
  • Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.
  • This position is not hybrid nor remote.
  • All newly hired employees are required to attend an in-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office location as a condition of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering.
  • Experience leading preconstruction teams on multimillion dollar construction projects.
  • Experience in scheduling/budgeting for construction projects.
  • PE preferred
  • Experience in preconstruction in the following industries: sports construction, aviation construction, high-rise/hospitality construction
  • Experience in full cycle estimating, scheduling, logistics and client relationship development.
  • Proficiency in computer scheduling projects.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency.
